Which would you prefer? Why? (1) Everyone in your class gets an "A" on a major test or (2) Not one discipline problem in your class for a whole month. If you got the job, we have two classrooms available, one with windows and one with no windows. Which yould you prefer? Why? On a scale between liking constant sameness and liking constant change, where do you fit? How would your supervising teacher (or previous principal/department chair) describe you? If you were stranded on a deserted island and could have one book, what book would it be? Describe a situation where you had a serious discipline problem in class. What did you do about it? Describe the worst teacher you ever had. In what subjects did you get your worst grades? Did you ever get in trouble when you were in school? One recent media analysis showed the following: In 2004 the average American spent 1,625 hours viewing TV, movies and videos, 176 hours viewing material on the internet and 108 hours reading. Do you find this disturbing? If so, what will you do about it? Give an example of a time when you averted a major problem by using foresight. Think about the story of the Wizard of Oz. With which character do you most identify? Why? Would you permit your students to use internet resources when taking a test or a quiz? As a teacher, describe one thing you could do that will almost guarantee to increase the success of your students in class. If someone said "I believe fervently that to teach all children the same way is to treat them unequally. Different kids have different learning needs; they have the right to have their needs met." Would you agree or disagree? James Becker, department head of Teacher's Education at Western Kentucky University, said "We've trained teachers to be technicians, but they should have the freedom to be more creative."
