The Healthy Food of the Week nutrition program is a yearlong curriculum designed to fit easily into your current PE schedule. It was designed by elementary PE teachers for elementary PE teachers. The program can be implemented in just a few minutes per day and can have a dramatic impact upon your students' attitudes toward food and nutrition as well as their eating habits. And, as many school communities have found, it's fun!

As role models to youngsters, Elementary PE teachers have a special responsibility: a healthy body helps to make a healthy mind. We demonstrate our belief that proper exercise and nutrition go hand in hand with reading, writing and arithmetic.

Healthy Food of the Week is a safe, non-competitive program that helps to nurture positive attitudes toward healthy foods. And it's easy to use, right out of the box. You won't have to read a book first. You won't have to study pages and pages of resource material first. Our curriculum package includes everything you need to start the program the day after you receive it.

Tested in a number of diverse school settings, we have found the following:

  • Students change their eating habits -- for the better.
  • Students improve their health.
  • Students become inspired to try new foods.
  • It is safe and non-competitive.
  • It provides cross-curricular learning activities. Other teachers will soon be tying their learning activities to your "food of the week."
  • It provides cross-cultural learning activities. Students will soon gain better appreciation for those from different backgrounds and cultures.
  • It satisfies the objectives of many state education goals.
  • The local grocery store manager will ask you for a "heads-up" so the store can help promote your "food of the week."
  • And it's fun!
