Do you have a page at MySpace?

Would you mind if we looked at it before making a decision about hiring you?

Be careful. If you do have a presence at MySpace.com the principal may already know about it. In fact, it is becoming more common for school administrators to "search the web" for information about prospective candidates. Now might be a good time to own up to your MySpace pages and try to explain them away. Even better, perhaps you should do your own "web house cleaning" before you apply for that job.

It is important to understand that the principal may not be aware that some of the information on your MySpace page was placed there by your "friends." Photos, comments and blog notes uploaded by "friends" may do damage to your chances for that teaching job.
