As a teacher, describe one thing you could do that will almost guarantee to increase the success of your students in class.

Wow. This would be a tough one if you haven't been reading our monthly newsletters. In fact, you might ramble for a couple of minutes while trying to stay on your feet.

But our last newseltter describes something you already know and can put to good use here: the greater the teacher's expectations of her students, the better those students perform. What is the one thing you can do to get more out of your students? Expect more!

A good answer might even include some of the research done in this area. Most of it shows that the expectations teachers have for their students and the assumptions they make about their potential have a tangible effect on student achievement. In fact, research "clearly establishes that teacher expectations do play a significant role in determining how well and how much students learn."

And then continue with anecdotal evidence from your student teaching or previous experience.
